a new baby...at 43

I never thought I would be changing diapers again... at 43... but her I am diapering our new addition.  A orphaned baby lambed, rightfully named "Precious."  She was born on 18 March and almost 2 months later is just checking in at 10lbs .
Babies are a lot of work and a baby lamb, no exception.  She certainly cried alot when she was dropped off by her first foster mother...but within a couple hours settled down to be comfortable on the couch, even though she doesn't want to snuggle with me like her "mother" said she does, which is why we ended up with the lamb... she was starting to be less lamb and more pet dog or cat.
I left her in my daughters care while I got some needed sleep and woke up to find her sitting comfortably on the little bed I mad her with the blanket she has been using since birth.
Glad she was not so stressed and made it through the night without catastrophe.

Precious is great practice for the 2 lamb rams I will be taking in 4 days from now, who will also need to be bottle fed.
It is challenging and tiring work...but so far life as a farmer is very satisfying.

Yet another house

Last year, my hubby and I bought an old farmhouse in Michigan, near his parents and to enjoy during the summer.  We had a great time revamping the garage to a bar and  fixing up the horrid bathroom.  We also fixed up the kids rooms and living room, just enough, to make them feel Oh, so comfy.
Now, not even one year later...an opportunity has struck and we are attempting to purchase a new, old, farmhouse... with 38 acres and lots of barns and outbuildings.
The proposed property though tastefully done, is somewhere in the era of 60-90... but thankfully in the 1900's.  There are 2 bedrooms upstairs + a room converted to an office as well as a large kitchen and formal sitting room and bath and 3/4 the extra 1/4 accounts for the missing bathtub in bath number #2, that doesn't bother me one bit. Downstairs is 2 enclosed rooms, one with pine 1/2 walled pine beadboard and a built in counter area, which will become my sons room, the other, a concrete room we will use for wood storage.  The heat is wood and propane... so excited for that, as, I like wood heat... but don't always feed the heater as often as required.  The basement will also house the washer/ dryer, heating system and the family room.  The family is full of mirrors and paneling and drop ceiling.  I hope to be able to make it into an awesome space for kids of all ages to hang out and relax.
